Glass Volumes Below Support an Elevated Sundeck
Supported by new glass rooms below, the renovated sundeck creates a seamless indoor–outdoor experience while offering elevated views of the surrounding mountains, valley, and lake. With its beautiful slat railing design, the wraparound sundeck extends along nearly half of the upper level, providing access through two bedrooms and a second-floor office while also creating covered outdoor spaces below.
Thanks to deliberate engineering and careful design, the sundeck sits lightly on the lower glass spaces. Built from durable materials with careful detailing, the deck complements the home’s modern aesthetic while standing up to Vermont’s seasonal conditions.
Floor-to-Ceiling Windows That Transform Light, Flow, and Connection
The renovation on the first floor focused on improving the kitchen’s flow, expanding the dining area, and creating an elevated primary suite. This program was achieved by adding two glass-wrapped volumes that created interior expansion while also providing exterior moments. Floor to ceiling windows flood the new kitchen, dining area, and primary suite with natural light and long views to the mountains. These expansive glass walls create a strong visual connection to the outdoors, reinforcing the home’s sense of openness, connection, and calm. Sliding panels allow an easy flow between the inside spaces and the outdoor patios, decks, and pool.
Together, these updates create a bright, modern atmosphere where every room feels more spacious, connected, and intentional. By pairing floor to ceiling windows with the elevated sundeck above, the project redefines how the homeowners experience their space, both inside and out.
