Nestled in Vermont with views of the mountains, the home we call “Fairytale Whimsy” is an unapologetically personal house where every fixture, finish, and flourish narrates the homeowners’ love story. Ditching conventional playbooks during their early sketches and dismissing the thought of resale value, they claimed, “Think of this as a very large coffin. We’re leaving feet first!”

This bold clarity of vision guided every decision. Through thoughtful collaboration, the design evolved into a whimsical blend of curved rooftops, asymmetrical charm, and unique finishes. Playful, deliberate, and carefully researched and considered, the elements of the house reflect their lifestyle, priorities, and tastes.

A Whimsical House Designed for Delight

Greeted by the circular stone archway and entering through the “speakeasy” door, this fairytale house continues to inspire with a chef’s kitchen designed for dancing, a greenhouse inspired room flanked by flames, books tucked into a full height stone wall, arches, a hanging fireplace, a spa bath with a starry ceiling, and glowing salt walls. The effect throughout is an enchanting mix of accents.

At the heart of the home is the couple’s exuberant pack of dogs. As much as this fairytale house is a reflection of the homeowners’ creativity, it’s also a tribute to the joy and chaos that comes from sharing life with animals. At its core, this home was imagined as a forever space for everyone in the family.
