Reimagining EVKids Camp: Preserving Charm, Adding Comfort
EVKids, a Boston non-profit organization running since the 1980s, has a cherished camp in the Green Mountains of Vermont. The challenge we faced on this project was rebuilding this beloved camp without losing the familiarity and feel of the pre-existing structure.
In collaboration with Dewing Schmid Kearns Architects & Planning, our design approach focused on preserving the camp’s original charm while integrating essential updates. The result is a thoughtfully renovated space that honors the camp’s history and enhances the experience for all who visit.
Thoughtful Design for Beloved EVKids Camp
In collaboration with the architect, we maintained a rustic feeling by exposing studs, painting the second-story wood floors, building wood slab dining furniture, and creating simple bunks and bedframes. Coupled with modern comforts, including plenty of open space and a contemporary kitchen with updated appliances, the finished product creates a welcoming environment that feels like a home away from home for the kids and staff visiting each year.
