Sustainable Aviation Design

Silver Maple Aviation is leading the next evolution of airport infrastructure with a net-zero, mass timber aircraft hangar at Concord Municipal Airport. Designed to withstand New England’s demanding climate while dramatically reducing environmental impact, this facility combines advanced building science, sustainable materials, and long-term operational efficiency.

The hangar’s mass timber structure cuts embodied carbon from day one, setting a new benchmark in eco-friendly airport development. This project demonstrates how sustainability and aviation can evolve together without compromise and Silver Maple Aviation’s role in becoming the ‘easy button’ for airport infrastructure.

Durable, Eco-Friendly Construction Built for Modern Aviation

TeEngineered for strength, resilience, and day-to-day functionality, the Concord hangar delivers an impressive clear-span capacity (210’) for maintenance and general aviation operations with a structure designed to last. The mass timber frame offers exceptional durability while providing a warm, natural interior uncommon in traditional metal hangars. High-performance insulation, efficient mechanical systems, LED lighting, and integrated controls work together to minimize energy use, reduce operating costs, and maintain consistent performance year-round.

Built using Silver Maple Aviation’s streamlined design-build process, this project offers airports a practical, scalable, and environmentally responsible solution for future infrastructure needs rooted in innovation and ready for the next generation of flight.
