Gallery Renovation Transforms Art Spaces with Purpose and Precision
Silver Maple’s commercial division played a pivotal role in a gallery renovation with Edgewater Gallery – first with the work on Edgewater’s Gallery on the Green (2016) and later with the transformation of their Middlebury Falls (2019) location.
Though distinct in scope and timeline, these two projects were united by a common goal: to create dynamic, inviting spaces where art and community intersect.
A Quick Gallery Renovation Turnaround for Lasting Impact
For the Edgewater Gallery on the Green, Silver Maple took a former outdoor gear shop and turned it into a modern, flexible art gallery. Meeting the two-week gallery renovation timeline demanded creativity and efficiency!
Reconfigured to suit the evolving needs of a gallery, we created custom mobile art units that are functional and practical. On casters, they are easily moved to suit the current show, and a concealed door provides ample storage capacity within. The wall-hung panels slide freely on heavy-duty rails, offering another easy option for display changes.
We maximized natural light and openness by removing walls, reworking the original entrance, replacing carpeting with sustainable bamboo flooring, and adding a fresh coat of paint, resulting in a fresh, creative, and versatile gallery.
Gallery Renovation Takes Turns Historic Charm Into Modern Event Space
The gallery renovation at Middlebury Falls included a two-story deck and required a custom structure that could integrate with the gallery’s surroundings. The steel railings and custom roof trusses were thoughtfully designed to offer unobstructed views of the Middlebury waterfalls, creating a breathtaking venue for gatherings.
Interior work included installing pine boards sourced from the gallery owner’s property, adding warmth and a natural touch. A glass panel in the floor gives visitors a glimpse of the original, massive gears and mechanisms from when the building used the dam to power its operations, connecting the modern gallery to its industrial past.
